What's up, y'all? It's Bethany and Kristen, and today we are reacting to why Christian girls should be beautiful but not seductive. This video is a throwback to one we filmed years and years ago.

0:13.0

Yeah, and this one exploded. People were like, okay, how do you be beautiful but not seductive? And then people were reacting. Like, come on, girls can be seductive all they want. And I'm telling you, I have no idea what we say

0:25.5

in this. Like, we filmed, we were going back through just recently and like looking through all the

0:28.8

titles and the views of all our videos. And I'm like, we cranked out some content. But I have

0:33.3

no idea. I'm like, I recognize the clothes I'm wearing, but I don't know what we're talking about.

0:38.3

Like, man, this has been a while. Yes, it'll be so great. I love it. And we haven't watched

0:41.9

it, like you said. So this will be our raw and honest reaction of Godefine, circa 2016 or 2017,

0:48.9

and what we thought about beauty seduction back then. Because we have a lot of thoughts about it today. And if we had to

0:54.5

record this from scratch without reacting, there are a lot of things that I know I would want to say.

0:58.2

So I'm curious to see what I said then. In fact, in our latest book, Made to Be She, we have entire

1:03.3

sections that talk about this exact thing. But from the standpoint of how we went, how we got

1:08.7

beauty wrong as Christian women. There's an entire section actually

1:11.7

on beauty specifically and how influenced we've been by our culture's ideals for beauty. And even how so

1:17.8

often as women, the purity culture has shaped a lot of our perspectives on womanhood, beauty,

1:24.4

our sexuality, but in a way that's actually not biblical. And so we've gone astray in that

1:28.9

ditch. And then we talk also about the feminist movement and that ditch and how that has also

1:33.0

shaped our view of seduction, beauty, womanhood, femininity, but in a secular sense of like, well,

1:38.9

this is what the world's presenting. And so how do we get out of these ditches that have influenced

1:43.1

our view of womanhood, whether it's really super conservative womanhood that falls in the trap of legalism or secular womanhood that's stemming from a lot of feminist mindsets?

1:51.6

How do we get back to gospel-centered womanhood?

1:53.7

And that is what we unpack in May to Be She.

1:55.9

This is a book for women of our day today.
