And this week, we are tackling a topic that is really near and dear to my heart, the topic of e-cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, vapes, lots of different ways that we

describe these things. So we're going to get into it. We have a very special guest who has

lots of expertise on this topic, and I think we'll learn a lot from him. Before we introduce

our special guest and before we get into it,

just a quick public health update that there was big news last week. So we're recording this

on March 23rd, but last week there was a very big update in the federal case of the

AAP, the American Academy of Pediatrics versus RFK Jr.

There was this big lawsuit surrounding the ASIP.

I always forget what this acronym means.

Or what it stands for, the advisory committee on immunization practices.

That's the federal committee that makes decisions around vaccines in the

United States. And so the federal judge ruled that here, let me just say, that basically what

has transpired the last year is not okay. So in terms of what the ruling actually wasn't what it means for us, so the 13

ACIT members that Kennedy appointed after firing all of the qualified experts on the committee

are effectively sidelined. So they cannot meet in any official capacity. And every vote that

they cast is seemingly nullified.

And this is really, really interesting.

So what this means is that some of the decisions that they made, like the hepatitis B birth dose

recommendation, which they eliminated, that is now restored.
