surrounding an event that many Christians refer to as the rapture.

Now, critics like to point out that that word does not actually appear in the Bible, and other

critics like to say or argue that the modern idea of the rapture originated in the 1800s

with John Nelson Darby and then was made widely popular

through the Schofield Reference Bible. What does the Bible actually say about the rapture?

And if that is a biblical idea, does it give us any indication of when the rapture might take

place? The word rapture is not in the King James version of the Bible. It's from a Latin word meaning to be

caught up. And certainly the concept of being caught up is in the Bible. I'd like to read from

1st Thessalonian chapter 4 beginning in verse 15 through verse 17. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,

with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God,

and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with him in the clouds

to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord so here we here

clearly have the term caught up so if we prefer we can say the catching away of the saints

but we use the rapture the word rapture is a shorthand way of saying the catching away of the

saints so is the catching away of the saints a biblical concept?
