I am Karen Hunter and I also host a radio show on SiriusXM Urban View Channel

126 Monday through Friday and it's a live show. Some people think it's a podcast. No,

this is the podcast. It's a live radio show. We have callers. I never really know, even though

we have a call screener, what people are going to talk about because they just give basic information,

the name, where they're from, and what their topic is. But during the election cycle, we had a lot of folk that were calling.

And I don't know who's calling with bad intent or good intent. I just take everyone and I'm

ready. It's live. So I had a call or call up trying to school me on all of the virtues of MAGA

and this country.

And I asked her a poignant question,

when was America great?

And oh my goodness, I think I broke her brain.

You'll hear the response.

But it's a question that I've had to ask myself.

You know, a lot of us go day to day.

We're living.

Those of us who are in the United States of America.

We don't really think about what it means to be an American, what our place is in this country, what our role is to make this country great or not.

And we don't really sit a lot with the history, especially now.

And just because America has a particular history does not mean it is not great because you're here. I'm here. So it is great by virtue of us being here and we're participating in this thing called America, which will make it great. But it's aspirational. It's not there. And it won't ever get there if we don't

reconcile with its history. The good, the bad, the ugly. If we're not sitting with the full

meal of America, America will never be great. She can only be as great as her weakest link.
