We got some things we got to deal with

today. I want to start with some definitions because we're talking about what is the village's

responsibility when black men abuse and murder black women. I've already given Urban View

the disclaimer. We know that abuse is not just going one direction. We know that there are many black

men who are also victims of abuse by their partners. We know that abuse is not something that only happens in the black community. Hell, it happens a hell of a lot in every single community, unfortunately, because of a variety of things. And we're going to unpack some of those things today because the ultimate question that we are going to be discussing here in Urban View is what happens. What is the village's responsibility when we see these things happening? So I'm going to start with a few definitions.

Number one, patriarchy. Patriarchy is defined as a social organization that's marked by the

supremacy of the father or male in the clan or family, the legal dependence of wives and children,

and the reckoning of dissent and inheritance in the male line,

which is to say you have a society, in a patriarchal society, you have a society that is based on men being the dominant figure in society.

And that means that everyone who is not a man is in some way subservient to that male.
