Summary

| 0:56.5 | many of those teens were Latin X. There are many factors that create the potential for substance |
| 1:02.2 | abuse within our culture, such as religious prosecution, fear of deportation, lack of legal |
| 1:08.5 | protection due to status, lack of job opportunities or travel |
| 1:12.6 | freedom to visit family members, trauma from involuntary immigration, such as fleeing from |
| 1:18.1 | their country due to violence, being victim of a crime, or acculturation and immigration. |
| 1:24.3 | Immigration itself can be a traumatic, multi-layered experience that can have a lifelong |
| 1:29.1 | negative impact on a person. Individuals have to leave their homes and cultures, sometimes by force, |
| 1:34.7 | as we all know, and endure a long and or expensive or dangerous journey to their port of destination. |
| 1:42.0 | Upon arrival, they settle down in a foreign land where the language, the customs, and the |
| 1:47.6 | culture are very different from what they know. |
| 1:50.1 | Culturation, which is the cultural and psychological changes from exposure to a new culture, |
| 1:56.2 | can also bring feelings of loneliness, frustration, and isolation. |
