Everyone seems to have at least one, and for the most part, they are relatively harmless.

This, unfortunately, is not always the case.

On August 9, 2021, a man made a truly devastating decision, motivated by a conspiracy theory,

one that ended the lives of two young children. So if you like your coffee hot, but your bones chilled, sit back and start your day

with a morning cup of murder. Matthew Taylor Coleman, born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, loved being in the ocean.

Learning to spearfish and sail when he was just a boy, he found his real passion the minute he stepped foot on a surfboard and decided to make it part of his career as he got older.

After attending the Point Loma Nazarene University, at which he

competed on their surf team, Matthew moved to Spain and began his own surf mission that eventually

would go on to serve in about 20 other countries around the world. He returned to California

two years later, spent the next handful of years teaching high school,

coaching the surf team, and working in a nonprofit that used surfing to mentor kids in need,

and then in 2017 he married his wife Abby, and together, they founded their own serving school.

While doing so, they welcomed their first child, Callio, a year after their wedding, and in September of 2020, a daughter named Roxy.

If you looked at Matthew's website or the couple's social media pages, what you saw was the picture-perfect California Beachy family.

They were young, beautiful, gave to their community,

and above all, seemed incredibly happy. Which is why when Matthew suddenly drove off with his children on August 7, 2021, and didn't come back, it didn't initially raise any red flags.
