I don't think that me submitting to her vision for her career takes away from me being

masculine.

Masculine men do what they want to do regardless of what anybody thinks.

As an artist, they're assuming that I'm the one who's like owning this thing and I'm the one

who's like the driving force behind it.

But it's beautiful that you get that fulfillment from playing the role that you want to play.

But I think some people did have a hard time with that transition because they assume that

somehow you're taking an L because I'm now the artist that he used to be.

So let's talk about submission. My fave definition of this comes from my friend Hafiz, who broke it down

like this. Sub is to be underneath, and mission is a person's purpose or agenda. So when someone

submits to someone else, they're under that person's purpose or agenda. And when it comes to

romantic relationships, the concept in a healthy one is to be stronger together. And this is a concept we've discussed before when we did the episode four with Jeannie Mai about self-expansion theory.

There is this theory is called the self-expansion theory and it essentially says that humans are unique to other animals

and that rather than just needing the basics of food, water, shelter, safety, belonging,

we also need achievement. And that's what makes it different. So we are just as driven to find

somewhere safe to sleep as night as we are to get up in the morning and strive for something.
