Everyone loves a good story and a good storyteller.

But there is no storyteller like the Lord Jesus,

and there are no greater stories told than the ones Jesus shared.

In this study, spiritual stories, we consider the parables Jesus told and their

application to us. These are truly the greatest stories ever told, and the Lord has something

he wants to say to you through them. Let's join Scott Pauley now.

We are all selfish because we are all sinners.

And in fact, we all look at life through the lens of our own gain our own profit only the lord can change that perspective on life and you know that creeps in the churches people even look at a church like

what can i get out of it what will we get out of serving the lord what will we get out of giving

no no that's the wrong way of looking at it.

And that is why Jesus told the story he did in Matthew chapter number 20.

It is an amazing story because it really picks up where our last discussion left off.

Do you remember in our last study, Peter said to the Lord, Lord, we've left everything to

follow you. Well, in Matthew chapter 19, verse number 27, he actually asked this question,

what shall we have therefore? Peter basically just put into words what all of us have thought at some point.

Well, Lord, if we serve you, if we do right, if we obey, what will we get out of it?

And it is in part of the response that Jesus gave to Peter's question that we find this story.

Verse number one of Matthew chapter 24, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out

early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard, and when it agreed with the laborers

for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour and

saw others standing idle in the

marketplace and said into them, go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right, I will give you.
