Everyone loves a good story and a good storyteller.

But there is no storyteller like the Lord Jesus,

and there are no greater stories told than the ones Jesus shared.

In this study, spiritual stories, we consider the parables Jesus told and their

application to us. These are truly the greatest stories ever told, and the Lord has something

he wants to say to you through them. Let's join Scott Pauley now.

Have you ever heard someone say that a particular thing is just impossible?

It's absolutely impossible. Well, the Lord Jesus gave a tremendous statement in Mark

10 that we're coming to in today's parable, and it is this, with men, it is

impossible, but not with God. For with God, all things are possible. Now, that is a

statement of faith. That's a statement of great confidence, not in us and not in

people and not in circumstances or resources, but a statement of great confidence in God.

And I find it really intriguing that this extremely positive statement follows one of the most negative stories in the gospel

records. It is the story that we commonly referred to as the rich young ruler. You remember the

young man who came and went away sad, sorrowful because he had great possessions and his faith

was more in what he had than in the person of Jesus Christ standing in

front of him.

Well, immediately following that record, we pick up today's text in Mark chapter 10, beginning

in verse number 23, where Jesus looked roundabout and saith unto his disciples, how hardly shall

they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God?

And if you're looking at Mark 10, verse 23, you'll see there's an exclamation point there.
