Everyone loves a good story and a good storyteller.

But there is no storyteller like the Lord Jesus,

and there are no greater stories told than the ones Jesus shared.

In this study, spiritual stories, we consider the parables Jesus told and their

application to us. These are truly the greatest stories ever told, and the Lord has something

he wants to say to you through them. Let's join Scott Pauley now.

Today we come to the story of two sons, but there's really just one principle in this parable,

as in all of our Lord's stories, a main point, and it is this, the lord is dealing with pride always always dealing with pride and by the way not just somebody else's pride my pride your pride it's pride to think that

others are more proud than we are i would challenge you to read Andrew Murray's classic book on humility, deeply, deeply convicting.

I'm reading right now a book that someone recommended to me by an old English author,

and it's a fictional book with lots of truth in it called pride and his prisoners.

And it really gets at the heart of this matter that all of us have to deal with our own pride.

And if you don't deal with your pride, know this, Jesus will.

So we come to Matthew 21.

Now the context is that the chief priest and the elders are trying to catch Jesus. They were

trying to ask him questions and trap him. And of course, in his wisdom, he understood exactly

what they were trying to do as they questioned his authority. And so we pick up in Matthew

chapter 21, beginning in verse number 28, but what think ye a certain man had two sons and he came to the

first and said son go work today in my vineyard he answered and said i will not but afterward he

repented and went and he came to the second and said likewise and he answered and said i go sir
