quivering buttocks unveiled in the House of Commons yesterday, but I observed yesterday morning that the

maddest stories in the news would not be the April Fool's yesterday. Little did I know that there would be a

nude demonstration in Westminster before close of play.

And speaking of things that I never thought would happen, today the Daily Mail provides what is probably the best roundup of the government's own analysis of how the country would be affected by a no-deal Brexit.

And that is, in a sense, where we are.

The government's own analysis is bleak.

It won't be infallible.

Some of the stuff that they say will happen won't happen.

Some of the stuff that does happen will be worse than what they fear,

and some of it will be nowhere near as bad.

That is humanity. that is life.

Anything else is denial.

Denial, denial, denial.

And so it continues.

What is the one thing that we could all agree on, almost as soon as the dust began to settle?

It was that the seductive qualities of an invitation

not to have to explain things was overpowering. It began with Brexit means Brexit or leave

means leave or take back control, all of these invitations which were taken up with alacrity and enthusiasm by millions of lovely people,

all of these invitations proved irresistible to millions of people.

The minute you write it down, it falls apart.

So don't write it down.
