Summary
Getting your first place alone is supposed to feel like independence, freedom, and finally having a space that’s fully your own. For one listener, that excitement didn’t last long. What began as an oddly specific sound—keys turning in the front door late at night—was unsettling enough. But when no one was ever outside, it became harder to explain away as an old house making noise.
Then the pattern changed.
What had once stayed at the front door began moving through the house in unmistakable footsteps, as if someone had come inside and was walking room to room. The final time it happened, those steps made it all the way down the hallway and stopped just outside the bedroom door.
No voice. No knocking. Just silence on the other side. Whatever was in that house never had to show itself. The sound alone was enough.
