Everybody, it's Dave here, first episode of the New Year.

We took a break there to replenish, to reflect.

We recorded a few shows, banked a few, but they just don't seem topical considering what

happened in Capitol Hill in Washington DC earlier today.

We recorded a podcast early this morning with Professor James Whitman, James Q Whitman.

He is the professor of comparative and foreign law at Yale University.

I want you, this says almost nothing to do with food.

We do talk about it at the very van, very, very briefly.

It's a continuation of a conversation we started earlier this year when we met Professor

Jeffrey Oogbar of University Connecticut where we had a really illuminating conversation

about black power, about Asian American communities and the solidarity there about white

supremacy and how white supremacy was interwoven in the sort of fabric of America.

He recommended this book by Professor Whitman, Hitler's American model, the United States

and making of Nazi race law.

This is a, I never thought it would be a topical podcast for what happened today and

what transpired today, but I think it will make sense when you listen to our conversation.

Very grateful that Professor Whitman would join us and I recommend that you read the book.

It is not a light read by any means and it's something that we should all reflect upon

today when you see what happened today and the response to the domestic terrorist, the

mob that stormed the Capitol today and hoping you all are staying safe and I will shut

up and get into our conversation.
