Three minutes after ten is the time, and you are listening to James O'Brien on LBC, where, well, two issues, two events recently, I think, focused the mind, and they have quite a lot in common.

The BBC journalist, Nick Watt, political editor of Newsnight, was pursued by, if I were a tablo journalist, I would describe it as a baying mob.

Actually, maybe even if I wasn't a tabloid journalist, I would describe it as a baying mob. Actually, maybe even if I wasn't a tablo journalist, I'd describe it as a baying mob.

I mean, mob makes it sound perhaps a little bigger than it was, but it was awful, absolutely awful.

And these were people who objected to his existence, his professional existence, because they believe, I don't know what they

believe, and frankly, I don't really care, but stuff about vaccines being made out of, I don't

know, the bones of babies or something like that. But that's a comedy metaphor, but they do believe

equally bonkers things and he was he was he was

scared he ran for cover and and he didn't really get it he sort of ran behind a police call what

looked a bit like a police cord on uh but it didn't close so what could they have done differently?

It's a question that hung over proceedings there.

And then this footage that emerged last night

newsroom knew this. My colleague Jim Diamond told me a moment ago and I had to, I did a double

take and I'm afraid I even double checked because I couldn't believe I didn't already know.
