What salesperson self-owned and lost your business? I've begun researching my next car.

I'm not looking to make a purchase for the next few months, but I like to do my homework.

I had a couple of meetings cancel on me one day, so I decided to run by the closest Hyundai dealer

to see their new hybrids in person. I'm currently a Honda guy. I had a great conversation with

the actual salesman, a good test drive, and he understood my plans. We returned to the dealership

and I grabbed a booklet on the Ionic as he went to take the keys back and find me a business card.

In the meantime, his sales manager approached me and asked four times, what do I need to do to get you to leave in a new Hyundai?

Refusing to listen to what both the salesman and I was saying.

To top the visit off, the manager grabbed my hands and began to pray that I would,

wise up and get a Hyundai.

Over the next 36 hours, I received 11 phone calls and text messages from the dealership, attacking me about

getting back in to buy, and eventually accusing me of only going in for the test drive gift

card promotion that I wasn't aware of.

I was at a furniture store looking for a new dresser.

I found one for a reasonable price, and might have come back after doing some more shopping

around, if the

salesman hadn't tried to upsell a couch despite me saying repeatedly that we do not need a couch.

That's why I like IKEA. It's cold and impersonal, which should incidentally be Sweden's national

motto. But then what will Finland's be? Gold, impersonal, and violently drunk.

A car salesman told me the van I was looking to buy had brand new brakes and tyres.

God, man, pick something less obvious to lie about.
