Do you ever pause and ask yourself why you're doing something that in the longer term doesn't have a good consequence for you?

That might feel good and exciting and give you a rush in the moment, but in the longer term it leaves you feeling unhappy,

stuck, powerless.

Look, our brains are smart. There is always a payoff. We don't do anything just for the heck of it or because we're silly, right?

There is a payoff in the moment and when we acknowledge that payoff, we can look at it and go, hmm, is this payoff actually worth it for me?

Is this payoff true? Is this payoff real? Is this payoff, in fact, to pay off? Or is it a momentary feeling of relief or a momentary soothing

for something that maybe just requires my love and a bit of questioning and maybe even a small part of me that just requires my attention and a little bit of healing.

I want to give you an example.

I have a friend who spends a lot. Right? She happens to make a good

living so she's not in financial danger but she spends a lot on things to impress other people.

So clothing items, furniture items,

holidays for the Graham, let's say, special pictures in special locations.

And look, there is nothing wrong with spending your money, right?

I'm all about it.

Live your life, do what makes you happy.

But make sure it's actually making you happy.

And not just you happy today, but you happy in the long term.

For example, if you purchase something, maybe it's a conspicuous consumable, right? Maybe it's a pair of boots or maybe it's a vacation in Europe.

Allow that to, when you really think about it, are you allowing that thing? Is that actually making you happy, not just in the moment,

right, when you swipe your credit card or when you press book or when you post the picture?

But when you look back, are you really happy with that investment in those boots or that
