What's the dumbest thing you did as a child out of curiosity?

I just wanted to see if my tongue could actually get stuck to ice like in cartoons.

My dad found me crouching with my tongue glued to the bottom shelf of the freezer.

I think a bit of my tongue was left on that shelf after I pulled myself away.

When I was five, I tried to see if I could fit my head through the bars going up the

stairs. I got my head in, but couldn't get back out. My mum called the fire department. They

pried me out and gave me a teddy bear. In short, I told all my friends how to get a free teddy bear.

I stuck a fork in a light socket to see if it would actually shock me. It did. My friend was trying

to stick a paper clip in an electrical outlet during class. He only put it in one socket. It did nothing.

Well, I was smart enough at the age of 10 to tell him that he needs to stick both ends of the

paper clip in both holes for it to work. And oh boy, did he get results. He cried, I laughed, the teacher was angry,

and now I'm an electrical engineer working for GE Aviation.

I was left alone in the car for a few minutes. I loosened the handbrake while the car was located on a hill.

My grandpa had to run for the car and make it stop. If it makes you feel any better

once I pressed the cigarette lighter of my dad's car into my thumb to see how hot it was.

The answer was pretty freaking hot. I stole something small out of a store to see what kind

of trouble I'd get into. Turns out I was young enough for them to simply tell me to leave.

I stole a lichy from this grocery store and my dad caught me on our way home. He made me return it and

apologize. I cried a lot. It was all very dramatic. Cringe. I poured water down a hive of wasps

when I was six. I thought they looked thirsty because the water droplets I gave them around the entrance all got sucked up. Turns out they were just trying to keep their home free of moisture. My grandfather, who was gardening at the time, saw the cloud that came up, grabbed me and ran inside. I still got stung more than ten times, though. My sister, who was a year younger, had been watching me. She went inside and

closed the door the moment I poured the cup. She's much smarter than I am. She still remembers

the way the wasps slammed against the door trying to follow us in. Yeah, this feels like the kind
