Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, it is the one year anniversary of Speaker Johnson. Number two,

Outbound Reform Compromise. Let's get into it, October 25th, 2023 was the day that Mike Johnson, the Louisiana Republican, became Speaker of the House.

We don't get into this much in the newsletter, but I thought given the extra time and space I

have in the podcast, I could talk a little bit about Mike Johnson. So Mike Johnson became speaker

one year ago today, making him,

I mean, he's already the longest tenure to Republican speaker since Paul Ryan, which isn't

very difficult because there's only been one speaker, Republican speaker, since Paul Ryan.

Johnson has had an interesting year. We've written about this a lot over the last year,

but he has, he started off very slow. He started off making a lot of mistakes in the house floor,

unforced errors left and right, but he, he's evened out a little bit. And how is he evened out? He's evened out by number one,

I will say this. He has raised more money than many, many, many people expected he would

raise. That's just a fact. He has raised, he has kept CLF flush, the Congressional Leadership Fund,

the House Republican Super PAC. He has kept, the NRC is struggling a little bit, but he has even

raised money for the NRCC to a degree that they're now even basically neck and neck with

the D-Trip on cash on hand, although they have a $15 million

line of credit, but that happens sometimes in elections.
