So if something absolutely ridiculous happens in Major League Baseball on Wednesday night,

and we're not talking about it in this episode, it's because we haven't seen it yet.

Which I'm sure will guarantee the absolute weirdest thing ever will happen in the next 18 hours.

Do you see that guy lose the no-hitter?

Yeah, and I would try to predict the walk-off inside the park homer that we saw a couple weeks ago,

but that already happened, so it won't be that, I don't think.

Two outs and a ninth bounce ball hits the runner.

All right. I like the predictions. I like where we're at. But on this episode, we're going to talk about what makes a pitcher streaky. Edo suggested that Jesus Lazzardo is a streaky pitcher on Monday's episode. And I didn't pull on that thread enough. But the more we thought about it, it was like, well, hitters are streaky, so surely pitchers could be streaky as well.

So we're going to try to drill into some factors that might actually cause a pitcher's performance to vary as wildly as one can vary it up.

And I think we're going to find a few surprises along the way.

We've got a pitching injury-related big picture question for today as well, well and time permitting we're to squeeze in a name that dude later this hour. So Trevor, when I say a pitcher

is streaky, what characteristics do you think that pitcher has that causes the performance to

vary up and down at a high level? I think the vast majority of the time is just connected to some sort of, I don't want to say injury,

but maybe something physically being out of whack.

But I'd also think that same logic applies to the mental side of the game.

So based on my experience with talking to a lot of pitchers,

there's a whole lot of like, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
