| 0:00.0 | Hey, what's going on, guys? Welcome back at the Jeremy Scott Fitness podcast, |
| 0:02.6 | from a radio show coming to you on a Tuesday here. Trying to stay warm in this 50-ish degrees, Scottsdale morning here, freezing cold outside, as we like to say here, which is funny because when I was a kid growing up in the Midwest, and it was 50 degrees in the sun, even if the sun wasn't out, honestly, and it was 50 degrees degrees you put on a pair of shorts maybe a hoodie or a long sleeve tea and you went outside and just played for hours and within probably 30 minutes you had a t-shirt on and you're sweating and life was great especially if the sun was out it was like winning the lottery and it's funny living here now that if it's 50 degrees in the morning and the sun's not out yet when people come in |
| 0:37.9 | here at you know 5 a.m. or whatever people are freezing and they act like you know how the world is |
| 0:43.6 | is going to end which is comical but uh I digress not the point of today's podcast. This is a request |
| 0:50.3 | from you guys and I have about 30 plus requests of things I haven't got to yet. |
| 1:12.5 | So if you sent me something and say, Jeremy, I haven't heard it yet. I will get to it most certainly. So I apologize for the delay. But I have a lot of real work to get through, plus all the podcast stuff. So I will slowly but surely take down everything you guys said. And if I can speak on it, it is on my list. And I'm either writing the content, doing some research, or I'm just going to go off the cuff like today. And this one came from a guy and he asked, I probably got this from like a handful of people in the last week alone, probably a couple hundred in the last six months. And I thought I talked about it. And I have in a roundabout way, but I'll be direct here and this one is you know motivated is the question. And, you know, what do you do when motivation is lost? How do you stay on the ball? How do you keep going? And what drives you every single day? And I'll share a story or two here with you and then I'll give you guys my two cents and how I view it. And it's pretty black and white to me. So this shouldn't take incredibly long. But I have a guy, and then we get this all the time. I do the other day came in and he's been, you know, training here for a while. And he's feeling frustrated. And he's like, you know, I just I don't know what to do. I just can't get rid of, you know, this, this bit of stomach fat here. and I frustrated, and I feel like I just want to quit because nothing I'm doing is working, which isn't true, but we listen to it all the time, and I've heard this from, you know, hundreds of people over the past decade plus. And usually what we find is this, for this guy in particular. He's not here every day. He weeks is here two days, some weeks, three days, |
| 2:19.5 | some weeks, he skips the whole week and doesn't come in at all. So we don't know what this person is |
| 2:24.6 | doing when they're not around, which would lead me to believe they're probably skipping workouts here |
| 2:28.7 | or there, or at least not being active every single day. And when you're really not following a program to the T or at least pushing it a couple days a week, obviously your results aren't going to come that fast enough. If you want to look a certain way, you guys, and this is what we're talking about, and this is the guy's problem is vanity. It's not a health thing. It's not a mobility thing for the most part. It's a how I look thing. and if you really want to look a certain way there's a certain level of i don't want to say pain like as an injury but there's a certain level of suck you're going to have to endure to look a certain way it's just the truth i'll do this for a different podcast altogether of why you don't look like a fitness model why you don't look like some of the fitness people like if it's me or whoever on instagram and youtube and all these things but there's a certain level of suck |
| 3:11.2 | that that is involved with that you're going to have to push your limits uh both you know in terms |
| 3:16.3 | of you know muscle uh aerobic endurance everything in between you're going to have to really |
| 3:21.4 | push your limits and find out where they are and this guy in |
| 3:24.6 | particular doesn't really go to that next level if he has six gears he's usually in gear three |
| 3:30.0 | he's never really touched gear five let alone getting close to the red line and on top of that |
| 3:35.1 | this person's not tracking their food on my fitness pal every single day so we don't know you |
| 3:40.1 | know macros wise what's |
| 3:41.4 | coming in uh expenditure wise what's going out no no real idea again not willing to you know prep food or |
| 3:48.8 | uh maybe change some of the eating habits maybe pack things with them stop at some of the better |
| 3:53.2 | restaurants look at the menu before you go there all these little hacks and my only response is instead |
| 3:59.4 | of listing all these things like you know i'm thinking about quitting and i'm like well what's your other |
| 4:03.7 | option so you quit coming so you quit showing up altogether you quit being surrounded by an |
| 4:09.2 | awesome community of people you quit having us in your ear and waiting for you and having everything |
