So I mean, looking at the sheerly abysmal turnout

that comes from these Democratic primaries,

we realize like 780,000 people live in my district

in New York City.

And the prior year, only 18,000 people

voted in the primaries.

So I'm thinking, man, let's go find 20,000 voters

and win this race.

And it's so outside the box.

And I talked to quote unquote experts and consultants,

and they said, no, no, no, you don't understand.

There's only 18,000 triple prime voters here.

These are the only people who consistently vote in these primaries.

You're not going to get people who are predisposed

to not voting in a primary to vote.

And I'm like, yeah, these people don't vote

because you've never tried to get their engaged.

And so we came at that race from this fundamental idea

that every single person was worth campaigning to.

But nobody was prohibitively expensive to campaign to,

or unimportant.

And that's how we did that race.
