For the Colson Center, I'm John Stone Street. On Sunday morning, Easter Sunday, Christians will gather in houses of worship around the world like they have since the very first century and make a proclamation to one another.

It's the central claim of the Christian faith.

We'll look at each other and we'll say those words,

Christ is risen, he is risen indeed.

Now it's tempting to make that claim

in a highly personal and privatized way.

In other words, saying something like, I believe, like you do, that Jesus Christ has risen

from the dead.

And I hope you do believe that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead.

But that doesn't quite catch the full effect of that proclamation throughout Christian history.
