In America, Easter traditions include egg hunts, new outfits for the kids, and too much chocolate.

But in Nigeria, Muslim attacks on Christians and Church, has become the tradition.

For years now, it's been 10 years since the hashtag bring back our girls campaign grabbed

international headlines after nearly 300 school girls were kidnapped by Boca Harang.

And the same group just took responsibility for kidnapping 280 more school

children just a few weeks ago.

In fact, over 62,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria in the last quarter century at the hands

of three different militant Islamic groups.

The violence happens year round, but it always seems to ramp up around church holidays.

Back at Christmas, attacks left hundreds of Christians killed or wounded.

And a recent article in Newsweek predicted that it's likely Christians will face violence

this weekend there as well.

So as you remember Holy Week and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus,

pray for Nigerian Christians and for their persecutors

that all would know the power of the risen Christ, the hope of the Gospel, and the peace that comes

from submitting to his reign.
