point look at culture from a Christian worldview. I'm John Stonestreet with the point Congress is considering banning the Chinese government-controlled social media

platform Tik-Toc. For some the ban is about national security. For others

it's about the safety and sanity of our children. Today nearly half of all teams

use social media almost constantly. 63% of them use Tik-Toc, making it the second most used social media

platform behind YouTube.

Now some claim that banning TikTok would lead to catastrophic consequences for

teens mental health.

For many teens, according to one Twitter users,

TikTok is their identity.

In other words, they're addicted to it,

so losing it would lead to mental distress.

And such an abrupt shift in their online life

would certainly cause distress.

But social media has long fueled anxiety and depression in young people.

Jean Twangie has noted that teens who spend more time behind the screens are at a higher risk,

a much higher risk of depression.

Well, thankfully, teens are really more than their online person

as their likes and their follows. Their embodied persons, whose happiness and

wholeness depends on living in the real world. Any effort to help them do that is a step
