Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

On our last Searchlight program, we began looking at an interesting story in the last chapter

of the Gospel of John. It is a story about Peter. We know that Peter had a propensity

to say the wrong thing at the wrong time in the wrong place. And in our story, Jesus was

telling Peter about how he would suffer for the sake of the gospel.

This was meant to encourage Peter because Peter had denied the Lord previously.

Now Jesus was affirming Peter and telling him that he would be strong in his faith and

ministry. But Peter only heard the suffering part, and then he turned to John and said,

What about him? As if to imply that John had it easy.

As we join our teaching today, we will find that John did not have it so easy.

With our study, here now is Pastor John.

You see, Jesus told Peter when Peter put his eyes on John and said,

well, it seems like he's got it made in the shade, this one who was on your breast at the table.
