Today's guest is the rapper hip-hop artist Shad.

He's also the host of the fantastic Netflix series Hip-hop evolution.

Shad was in New York City.

I was so thankful that we could sort of catch up with them because he was on tour.

He was doing a concert later in Brooklyn.

I wanted to talk shop about his thoughts about the music industry, creating hip-hop,

learning your past and the history of your artistry, of your craft so you can better

prepare to do something new.

As a whole, I think I've always looked in other things, other avenues in culture to give

me a better insight in food because food up until recently really wasn't observed,

analyzed about what it means, where it's going to go in the history, especially in America.

So I wanted to see if there were other patterns that might help me better understand the culinary

arts.

So believe it or not, I've always looked at fashion and sports and literature and music,

but one of the things that I've always appreciated was the birth of hip-hop, the stories behind

it, and although I've read a lot and I've listened to it, one reason why I really appreciated

the series was the fact that I personally am sort of a visual person and it allowed

me to connect certain things that I might have missed before.

It doesn't cover everything because that would be a humongously long, very, very long film,

but it does cover how things spread, where things are might be going.
