0:15.3	The Bible has a lot to say about angels.
0:17.7	With us is Dr. David K. Bernard, and he's going to give us an overview of what the
0:21.6	scripture says and maybe a little bit of what the scripture doesn't say. Dr. Bernard, we just
0:27.0	celebrated Easter Sunday. This episode's coming out the Monday after Easter, and angels, as you
0:32.6	well know, play a very prominent role in the resurrection of Jesus. In fact, the gospel say that an angel came down
0:39.5	and rolled away the stone. Gospel accounts say that angels were there at the tomb to greet those
0:44.7	who came to see the empty tomb. So there's lots of mentions of angels all throughout Scripture,
0:50.8	in fact. Can you tell us what does the Bible specifically say about these beings,
0:57.2	and maybe what are some common misconceptions about angels? Yes. Well, if you look at Hebrews
1:03.1	chapter one, it says that angels are ministering spirits. So they're spirit beings, not flesh beings, not humans. They can appear in human form,
1:16.1	but they don't actually have flesh and blood. They are ministering spirits. So their job is to serve.
1:24.4	They serve God. Their agents of God. In fact, the Greek word for angel also
1:30.3	means messenger. So you see this throughout the Bible many times, at least how we humans interact with
1:37.9	angels. They come with a message from God. So they're God's agents to do his bidding, to do his work. And of course, God can do anything
1:46.1	and everything, but he just like he often uses humans. For example, he uses humans to preach the
1:51.3	gospel. You know, God could proclaim the gospel from, you know, Mount Everest, but instead he uses us.
1:57.4	And so God could, for whatever reason, I mean, he could, and sometimes does. He might
2:03.8	speak through a spiritual gift or dream or vision, but sometimes he may choose an angelic messenger.
2:11.0	And of course, Hebrews goes on to say Hebrews 1, that they minister to the heirs of salvation.
