Dame Chavonne McDonough is the Labour MP for Mitchum and Morden in south-west London and has been

since 1997, although she first contested the seat back in 1987.

In the Parliamentary Labour Party, packed with newbies, Chavonne, I imagine your advice

is sought on all sorts of things, isn't it? What's the most useful piece of political wisdom

you pass on to them?

Love your constituents.

That's the key to longevity in Parliament.

Lord Harper is a Conservative peer who held a clutch of government positions, including

Immigration Minister, Chief Whip and Transport Secretary.

He now sits in the House of Lords as a Conservative peer.
