Hey guys, we left you yesterday on the edge of the cliff because Israel had won this unlikely battle. They were like two little flocks of

sheep or of goats facing this huge Syrian army. But the god of the mountains is the god of the valley.

And God showed himself strong and there is no question mark in the minds of the enemy or the minds of

God's people that God is God. Great victory. But was it a great victory? Because what's going to

happen in this passage is Ahab is going to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. It's really,

really sad. So here's Ben Hadad. He's in the inner chamber of a city called Effect. And his counselor

are saying, Ben Heydad, it's bad. And there's nothing we can do. We can't fight our way out.

We can't manipulate our way out.

In fact, the only thing that we can do is just put sackcloth and ashes on and put our

tail between our legs and go and just hope that the king of Israel will be merciful

Now, think about this. Ben-Hadad had begun this whole

battle the year before by saying to Ahab, I'm going to take your wives, I'm going to take your gold,

I'm going to take whatever I want. I don't care what you think. So Ben Hey Dad has been very much a bully.

Ben Haydad has not had any mercy on anybody.

And now in this situation, he is hoping for mercy, isn't he?
