Okay, friends, I'm back here in the studio and we are talking about this guy by the name of

0:48.7

Benaya. What a guy. Solomon has been using this mighty man who's going to be his new kind of hit man and military man to take care of business in Jerusalem.

1st Kings 2 and verse 36, the Bible says that the king sent and called for Shemi I. So who is Shemi I?

2:23.5

Well, Shemi I was a benjamite. And he shows up in the Bible when David has been

2:29.2

opposed by his own son, Absalom. And Absalom has overtaken the city of Jerusalem.

2:36.0

He has established a coup. David is fleeing for his life. It's one of the lowest moments in

2:42.7

David's life. And as he is leaving the city, remember, Shemiye is cursing him, throwing stones at him. Now, that is a, that's a big thing. And maybe

2:56.7

Shemiah is emboldened by the fact that David looks weak and he's in mourning. Always be
