We have another cyber attack in the news today.

This time, the world's largest meat processor, a company called JBSSA, was hit by a ransomware

attack which, according to the White House, likely came from Russia.

The company has been forced to shut down a number of its meat plants in Utah, Wisconsin,

Nebraska, and Texas, but has not disclosed how many plants have been affected.

Within the U.S., JBS sources about a quarter of all beef and a fifth of all pork.

And in terms of what's being done about this, White House principal Deputy Press Secretary

Karin John Prear said,

The White House is engaging directly with the Russian government on this matter and delivering

the message that responsible states do not harbor ransomware criminals.

I'm sure that'll stop them.

Yesterday, President Biden gave a speech to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa

massacre, where he unveiled a set of policies intended to narrow the wealth gap between Black

and White Americans.

The plans include using federal purchasing power to pump more money into minority owned

businesses and setting aside $10 million in infrastructure funds to rebuild disadvantaged

neighborhoods.

They also plan to more vigorously enforce the Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination

and housing in order to bolster home ownership.
