Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

Number one, Donald Trump's sentencing in his New York hush money case was postponed.

On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that presidents are immune from prosecution

for official actions taken while in office. Trump's lawyers are now trying to argue that

the ruling means Trump's recent conviction in New York should be tossed.

Trump was found guilty in May of falsifying business records before he was president.

But Trump's legal team could use the new ruling to attack the trial's evidence.

That's because the Supreme Court said that any evidence related to the official acts of a president

can't be presented to a jury, even when it's being used to prove alleged private criminal activity as it was in the New York case.

Trump's sentencing had been set for next week, but now it's been tentatively scheduled for September 18th.

This delay is just the first of what could be many practical effects

of the Court's historic decision. Number two, Barack Obama privately shared his concerns about President Biden's shaky performance in last week's debate.

This is according to reporting from the post published yesterday.

The former president privately told allies that Biden's already tough path to re-election

grew even more challenging after his debate against Trump.

That's a harsher assessment of the presidential race than Obama has made in his public comments.

And Obama isn't alone in his concerns.
