top stories. It's Wednesday, July 17th.

Hot weather continues to blink at Western Washington and will for another few days.

The special concern tonight is a chance of thunderstorms and lightning. There's a red flag

warning until 11 o'clock tonight in the Cascade and Olympic Mountains and their foothills, somewhat rare for the wetter side of the state.

A red flag warning, meaning there's heightened risks of fire starting, also covers eastern Washington.

Seattle is near its record for how hot this June has been.

We've hit at least 14 days in a row at 80 degrees or hotter.

The record's 15 days set in 2015. Highs will be in the mid-80s again tomorrow. Hang on until

Monday. That's when temps should drop back into the 70s. Things are heating up in the Boeing world today.

Unionized Boeing machinists voted today to authorize a strike.

If contract talks face turbulence, the vote was 99.9% yes.

As Casey Martin reports, tens of thousands of workers gathered at the Mariners ballpark to cast their votes.
