| 0:30.5 | It's a call to change, it's a call to fix a problem, it's a radical call to say, |
| 0:37.0 | yeah, I've been ignoring this because it's really uncomfortable, because it didn't affect me. |
| 0:51.8 | It's more than just saying, I'm going to do better and I think that's a start. |
| 0:56.5 | And I know that's what I've started by saying is I need to do better. |
| 1:01.0 | And I started by saying that and then being defensive, that some of my black friends or |
| 1:08.1 | black followers might have responded back to me and anger like, oh now you get it. |
| 1:13.6 | Where have you been? Wake up! |
| 1:16.1 | And earlier this week I didn't understand that rage, like I'm admitting that I'm flawed, |
| 1:28.1 | I'm admitting that there's things I've overlooked, I'm admitting that this has been so big |
| 1:37.1 | and so powerful and so emotional and it's gone on for so many days now. |
| 1:46.1 | That it even hurts for me to say so many days when black indigenous people of color |
| 1:53.1 | have been experiencing this for 400 years. |
| 1:56.1 | And so even to say that this is an awakening feels offensive. |
| 2:02.1 | And for it to feel offensive that someone saying, I'm sorry, I understand I want to do better, |
| 2:07.1 | that can feel like an attack. |
| 2:09.1 | And so here we are in this place where we are miles and miles apart when I don't know what to say. |
| 2:19.1 | Except I'm sorry and this is a start and it starts with me. |
| 2:25.1 | And not everyone has people as brave as the person who I'm going to speak with today. |
