Good morning everyone and welcome back to another mornings with the masters.

We devote ourselves to the Lord daily with you.

We are picking up with day four of our why does the Christian life seem so hard

devotion on the Bible app.

And as always I'm going to read the scripture that I'm also going to pick with the Devo.

The scripture is Roman chapter 7 versus 4 through 6 and it says this.

So my dear brothers and sisters this is the

point. You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ and now you are

united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce

a harvest of good deeds for God. When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the

law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds resulting in death. But now we have been released from the law,

for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the spirit.

The devotional is titled From Despair to Hope, and it says this.

So the question is how do we on a day by day basis go from feeling like we are stuck in a battle

tinged with despair to fighting a battle filled with hope.

The answer is tucked into the early verses in Romans 7,

where Paul tells the struggling believer,

but now we are released from the law, having died to that which

held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the spirit and not in the old way of the

written code.

We experience the victory of the gospel by steeping ourselves in the reality of the gospel.
