So what I say to my friends on the far right, the Democrats have grown government over the last 60 years because they understand the power of incrementalism.

I think part of the problem with Republicans is that we are so often focused on hitting the Hail Mary Pass that we forget about the power of incrementalism.

This is going to spend less money next year.

That is not sufficient. That does not solve all the problems of this country, but it's a big win.

Let's put it in our pocket and get another win tomorrow.

We begin this morning in Washington with the debt ceiling deal.

The House Rules Committee will meet today to discuss advancing the legislation to a full vote in the House. Meanwhile, House Conservatives are criticizing the bill, calling it, quote, the Fiscal Irresponsibility Act, not a win and even deeming it a turd sandwich, with many Republicans vowing not to vote for its passage.

On the other side of the Capitol, Senators Lindsey Graham and Mike Lee have vowed to impede the bill's

passage over their own concerns. And Texas Senator Ted Cruz called the legislation a, quote,

blank check for Democrats.

However, the chair of the Main Street Republicans, South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson,

says he believes the bill will pass in the end.
