All Canadians can give themselves far more than any foreign power on any continent can ever take away.

And that by staying true to Canadian values, Canada can build new alliances and a new economy that serves all Canadians.

Meanwhile, President Trump is escalating his rhetoric with Russia for stonewalling ceasefire

negotiations.

The question is, can the president get Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table?

It comes as Republican senators are voicing their support for increased sanctions on the Kremlin

with no peace deal in sight.

The question is, will they actually take action, even if it's without Trump's

blessing? It's way too early for this.

I'm Allie Vitale on this Wednesday, May 28th, and we'll start with the news.

We begin with the escalating rhetoric between President Trump and Russian officials, with no signs of a ceasefire in Ukraine and tensions only rising.

Just before noon yesterday, the president posted on social media that if it wasn't for him,

quote, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia. Trump then went on to

add that Russian President Vladimir Putin is playing with fire. Hours later, the former president

of Russia, Dmitri Medvedev, responded to Trump's post directly, writing, quote, I only know of

one really bad thing, World War III.

I hope Trump understands this.

The Russian state media outlet RT also responded to Trump's post.
