We'll start with the news.

Nine people are dead after an employee opened fire at a light rail yard in San Jose, California.

Before that shooter took his own life, police said. According to authorities, the victims range from 29 to 63 years old. The gunman was identified as an employee of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, law enforcement sources said.

The early morning attack came at a

particularly busy time at the transit hub as overnight workers overlap with their colleagues

checking in for early morning shifts. Investigators said the motive is unclear. California

Governor Gavin Newsom lamented the rinse and repeat nature of American gun violence.

It begs the damn question, what the hell's going on in the United States of America?

The hell's wrong with us.

But it's time to deal with the endemic before this pandemic of gun violence, the pre-existing condition.

It somehow sort of pushed aside last year, but now has raised its ugly head again this year
