Russia widens its attacks in Ukraine, with airstrikes on new targets, including two in the

western part of the country, pushing closer to NATO territory. Meanwhile, Russia continues to pound

the battered city of Maripol, refusing to lit up, preventing much-needed aid from getting in, and

civilians from getting out.

Plus, the U.S. continues to sound the alarm, warning that Russia may be gearing up to use biological

and chemical weapons. We'll hear from the CIA director on that. And Vice President Kamala Harris

on the move this morning. This video just coming in from Warsaw as she met with troops from

the U.S. and Poland. Her next stop today, Romania. All of this as the war in Ukraine enters

day 16. Good morning and welcome to way too early on this Friday, March 11th. Thanks for

joining us. I'm Jonathan Lemire. Russia is stepping up its offensive

across Ukraine this morning, launching fresh air strikes and hitting new targets, away from the main

offensive. Three Russian strikes hit the central city of Nipro, killing one person. Air strikes also

hit two locations in Western Ukraine, temporarily shutting down two boiler houses.

Local officials say one person was killed in those attacks. This, as U.S. officials are warning

that Russian troops are now just 10 miles away from the city center of the capital, Kyiv.

New satellite images released yesterday showed that massive military convoy,

which had been stalled outside the city and attracted so much attention, has now dispersed and

fanned out into towns and forests near the city. Meanwhile, Russian forces continued their siege

of the beleaguered Port City of Maripol, amid growing concerns that the humanitarian crisis

there is worsening. Yesterday, Mark, the eighth straight day of relentless attacks in the city

as trapped civilians struggle to find food and water.
