President Biden will begin his overseas trip today without the Democratic caucus's full support of his agenda.

Yesterday morning, the president pitched a slim-down version of his social spending package to lawmakers and the American people.

The White House had hoped that the announcement of a Build Back Better Act framework would be enough

to convince House progressives that they should vote to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

Instead, progressives dug in, and they insisted the bills we voted on together.

In a statement, caucus chair congresswoman Pramilla Jayapal writes, quote,

members of our caucus will not vote for the infrastructure bill without the Build Back Better Act.

We will work immediately to finalize and pass both pieces
