Jared of Upcycle and we're talking about how plants use nutrients. Now I've done a lot of

episodes about this in the past specific to individual nutrients let's say nitrogen or

phosphorus or just how from a botanical level a plant would use it but what we're

going to talk about today is the difference

between a water soluble nutrient and a water insoluble nutrient and what

ramifications that might have on your garden, on your farm, or just on your

plants and so I'm going to let Jared hop in and share a little bit about that.

Excited to talk about some of the particulars of nutrients in the availability of them.

When you go to a garden center... the particulars of nutrients in the availability of them.

When you go to a garden center, your favorite independent spot, oftentimes you'll see a plethora of

bags of fertilizer and it's all special-to-use stuff.

There's your azalea fertilizer, your rose

fertilizer, your citrus fertilizer, your tomato fertilizer. Frankly, that's just

that's just marketing at the end of the day. A friend of mine who owns a local nursery likes to say that plants don't

discriminate. And it's really true. What plants need is various nutrients at various points

in their growth cycle. So that's where having a good all-purpose fertilizer that has

available nutrients is a super valuable thing. When you're looking at your

nutrient blend, particularly within your nitrogen and your phosphorus, there's two pieces to look for.

Water soluble versus water insoluble.
