One day my washing machine stopped working.

I assumed it was time to get a new one since I'd replaced other appliances with the same age and brand.

I chose one that could be delivered the next day.

After I ordered it, out of the blue, a quiet voice asked,

have you forgiven?

I knew this was a message from God, and I knew what I must do.

Forgive my son.

For some time, he and his housemates had been using my washer and dryer, overloading the machines.

I'd ask them to be careful, but it continued.

I didn't want this to get in the way of loving my son or his housemates.

I knew it was important to love and not be self-righteous.

Jesus said in his sermon on the mount,

therefore, if thou bring thy gift to the altar,

and there, rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee,

leave there thy gift before the altar and go thy way.

First, be reconciled to thy brother,

and then come and offer thy gift.

I found that loving others is much easier

when I recognize that they're the spiritual offspring of God.

As such, they have to express as all good nature.
