On June 9, 1959, a young girl disappeared in a case that saw a quick conviction, one that,

decades later, was called under question.

Cheryl Lynn Harper, born on August 31, 1946 in New Brunswick, had a father who was a school

teacher and later joined the military and relocated to the RCAF base in Clinton, Ontario.

Because their father was a commissioned officer, Cheryl, the middle of three children,

and her family, were considered part of the upper class of Garrison Society. Living in the

permanent married quarters on Victoria Boulevard, everyone who knew the young girl described her

favorably with a former teacher from the AVM Hugh Campbell School, recalling the, quote,

high-spirited student who was independent, determined, and, quote, quite forward with her opinions,

but said that there was nothing disrespectful or distasteful about her.

She was also a young girl who spent her free time going to Sunday school, Bible class,

and girl guides, and excelled in physical activities. However, after the events of 1959,

the young girl would mostly be remembered for the horrible crime committed against her.
