On June 8, 1913, 11-year-old Ivy Mitchell was found raped and murdered on Cedar Creek Road near Sanford, Queensland.

The young girl, the daughter of a farmer, had previously been playing at the home of her friend, Mary Frisch, when she left at dusk to begin her walk back home.

The Mitchell family lived just two miles away from the Frisch's

in a small community that was connected by dirt roads. So it didn't seem like a dangerous journey

at all for the young girl, especially since she was escorted by her seven-year-old friend

to the end of her drive. Shortly after saying their goodbyes to one another, Ivy disappeared.
