Summary

The biggest question that Christian parent’s ask themselves is, how do we protect our kids from the junk of this world? It’s not easy and nearly impossible to protect our children from all the junk of the world. We can set boundaries to help limit their exposure but more importantly we should take the time to teach them that temptation is sin trying to satisfy our souls in a way only Christ can. In this episode, Jerrad Lopes relays how he and his wife dealt with his young son’s experience of seeing a scantily clad woman on a magazine cover during a trip to Walmart and challenges us as fathers/husbands to create more space for Christ in our own lives by removing temptation. We are a ministry that is just focused on pointing guides towards Jesus, which it turns out

0:35.3

there are very few ministries that are just geared towards husbands and

0:38.1

dads. There are a lot of ministries out there for women and moms, but not so many for husbands

0:43.9

and dads. And there are even fewer, I found, that are really just focused on pointing guys

to Jesus. There's a lot of stuff out there that, like, you know, wants to, like, help

0:54.8

change your behavior, a lot of conferences, a lot of books, a lot of content out there that's

0:59.6

just telling you guys to, like, man up and be more disciplined and all that kind of stuff,

1:04.1

which, you know, whatever, it's fine. It's for some guys that works, but essentially what

1:09.1

it's doing is it's trying to change your behavior and we're not trying to

1:11.9

change your behavior we're trying to point you towards Jesus and we're convinced I'm convinced

1:16.0

that if we can point you towards Jesus that your heart would begin to change and heart

1:19.4

change lasts much longer than behavior modification you and I both know that we can try to like

1:25.1

muster up the energy to be good men, be faithful men, be

1:29.9

God-fearing men. And we fail. We just don't have it within us to do that. But I do believe that

1:36.0

the spirit of God within us can empower us to live the kind of lives that like don't make,

1:41.3

that doesn't make sense to the world. Like we can kind of, we can be the kind of men that God desires us to be because of his spirit in us.
