Summary

Your family are the most important people in your life. Your love for them knows no limits. But time and time again you find yourself getting angry with them and don’t know why. The first thing to understand is anger is never the first emotion. There is always something else that triggers an angry response. There is a primary emotion that is trying to remain hidden. In this episode, Jerrad Lopes will delve into the underlying causes of anger and challenge us to look deeper. If you have struggled with anger or find yourself reacting in ways you don’t understand, you won’t want to miss this episode! Host: Jerrad Lopes Scripture references: Proverbs 29:25 "The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe." Hebrews 13:6 "So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” Matthew 10:28 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Galatians 1:10 "For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ." Psalms 118:8 "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man." Isaiah 51:12 “I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass," Connect with Dad Tired: To subscribe on iOS, go to our iTunes page and subscribe. everyday families learn how to follow Jesus and everyday life.

So a couple days ago, I was at home and I was getting ready for work and in the bathroom

0:26.2

and I was just smelling this like weird funk. And, you know, when you live with kids, you're like,

0:30.7

that could be anything. That could be a hot dog under the mattress. There could be leftover food.

0:36.6

There could be dirty diapers. If you still have

0:39.0

kids with dirty diapers, fortunately, we're out of that stage, but it could literally be anything.

0:43.3

So I'm like, become the nose detective. And if your dad, you know exactly what I mean by this.

0:48.9

Like you just go around hunting with your nose, like a hound dog, trying to figure out where the smell is and so i'm just

0:58.8

like i cannot find where the smell is coming from and eventually like as i'm literally on my

1:03.1

hands and knees and sometimes army crawling throughout the house trying to figure out where the

1:07.1

smell is coming from it leads me to the vent in our room, and I smell down

1:12.5

there. And I have a flashback from when I'm like 10 years old, and I remember finding a dead rat

1:19.7

in my garage. And that was the last time that I had smelled this exact same smell. And sure enough,

1:24.7

that's, I was just convinced, like, this is what it is. There is a dead rat in our vents. And so we're renters, which most days I'm like frustrated

1:34.0

that we're paying rent instead of paying a mortgage and like actually making money on our house.

1:39.4

We're just throwing it away. But we've got a good deal. I'm happy with our rental house.

1:43.0

It's a whole other story.

1:49.1

But one of the good things about being a rental or a renter, as you know, is you can just call your landlord and be like, hey, there's a dead rat in my vent, and I need you to come take care

1:53.2

of it. So that's what I did. I called our landlord. And within like an hour, she had somebody

1:59.7

here, the rat man. and he was just like,

2:03.9

the exact kind of guy you would picture that this is the job. That's all I'll say. He just loved
