In a moment, I'm going to describe the weather conditions I'm walking. And you might be able to hear a little bit of wind.

Like so many others, weather affects me deeply, emotionally.

In fact, it seems to affect me even more strongly the older I get.

One of the things that I've been working on, and I think actually working hard on, is the impact of weather on my fitness. I recognize how weather affects my attitudes, which can in turn affect my actions, and what I

don't want is for the weather to pose a speed bump or worse, a brick wall to my fitness.

In fact, just the opposite. What I've been really working on

doing is learning how to embrace the different types of weather, particularly weather that I

find challenging, and look at those days as opportunities and maybe even opportunities for enjoyment in a way that I

never would have enjoyed it before. So here's what's going on. The temperature is 19 degrees,

and perhaps you can hear the wind. It's not a full on wind, but every now and then there's a bit of a gust. And that drops the wind chill down to about zero. And this is the kind of day that I would, the past me would have said, this is a really good day to enjoy

from inside. I am not heading out for a walk. But what I'm trying to do is learn how to embrace
