Today I actually want to give you two ideas to make your walks more interesting, more challenging, more fun.

The first comes from Jackie, a listener. Jackie sent me an email, said that in addition to walking daily,

Jackie is now going to pursue 5,000 steps every morning.

So Jackie has a regular walking routine, regular fitness routine, and for a month, for a month,

Jackie is adding the additional challenge of 5,000 extra steps every morning.

And I've done this from time to time where I supersized what I'm doing.

I supersized my walking.

I push myself, add some extra steps for usually it's a period of 30 days a month.

Soon after I got my Fitbit. In fact, I think it was the month that I actually made the decision to stop running for fitness and start walking for fitness. That was the month of May.

I supersized the challenge that month and set a goal of 25,000 steps every day for an entire month, which, by the way, I did not make. Right in the middle, right in the middle. I had a day where I just didn't feel like it. Didn't feel like it. I was 10 years ago, and I still remember that. That, by the way, was a little extra motivation a couple of years later when I set the goal

to reach a million steps during the month of July. It was July 2015.

And there were days when I thought, why did I do this? Why did I set this goal? And the answer that I kept giving

myself and will tell you is it really wasn't about the steps. It wasn't about the fitness.

It was about I want to do a hard thing. And I want to see if I have it in me to do a hard thing when I don't

feel like it, because I knew that I wouldn't. The point here is not set a goal of 25,000 steps
