One of the benefits to living in South Carolina in Myrtle Beach is that spring arrives earlier than it did in Maryland.

I lived in Maryland for 60 years. It felt like spring kept arriving later and later and later,

which got more and more frustrating.

And one of the reasons we move 500 miles south is for the warmer weather,

which means an earlier arrival of spring.

And this time of year, those of us who live here, we're getting ready.

We're excited.

And I've seen a couple of signs of early spring.

Actually, I'll even say three signs.

Number one, the Lowe's parking lot, more than half of the parking lot is now filled with bags of mulch.

People are ready to get dirty. To get to work in the garden to pull those lingering weeds from the fall and to put on a fresh bed of mulch. And the lowest

parking lot, more than half of it is covered with bags of mulch
